Re: HELP - Nikon Lens
Don't have a Nikon, Marv, but obvious questions are:
Is there a filter on the lens? Is it worse at the 135mm end? How light is the subject? All will have some effect on the autofocus Has it ever worked without 'hunting'? |

Re: HELP - Nikon Lens
Is the camera set for continuous focus? Does this problem exist with all subjects? AF requires reasonable contrast in the subject to function.

Re: HELP - Nikon Lens
.. thanks for your HELP ..
.. I only have a protective filter on the Lens and I have even tried the Lens without this protective lens .. .. it appears to be worse when I zoom in on the subject and at lower light .. but it will also go 'nuts' in full daylight .. ?? .. .. when the Lens was new ( 9 months and 9,000 photos ago ) it worked better .. very little 'hunting' .. but now it is almost ALL the time .. I do have other Lens that work better .. .. I am ready to head back to the Camera Shop where I bought the Lens .. Marv .. |

Re: HELP - Nikon Lens
One other thing worth trying: cleaning the contacts between body and lens, on the lens. If there's a dirty contact when it's trying to alter the focus it may well display these symptoms. I use a pencil eraser to rub the contacts clean

Re: HELP - Nikon Lens
One other thing you could try is to change the lens and see if the problem is still there. If you don't know anyone with a Nikon, the shop will probably help you out.

Re: HELP - Nikon Lens
.. thanks much for all your HELP .. I am in the process of getting the Lens issue resolved .. I brought it to Ritz Camera and they determined that the Lens has an internal problem .. it appears that it is 'rubbing' someplace inside the Lens .. and I am lucky that when I bought the Lens I bought an Extended Warrantee by Ritz Camera that coverers the Lens for everything 100% .. now I will just have to live without the Lens until ir returns ..
.. thanks much again .. Marv .. |
