Hope for this 550 EX
First, Hello to all...first day at Pixalo. Seems like a nice community.
My first question is probably very basic to most of you but I'm stumped. I have a 550 EX. I purchased it a few years ago but only used it once as I left the batteries in the body and it corroded the metal inside. Since it was my error I didn't feel right trying to exchange it. I just noticed that there's a Canon CP-E2 BATTERY PACK. My Question: Will this help me? Can I use it to bypass the corroded battery compartment of the 550? Thanks? PF |

Re: Hope for this 550 EX
Contacted B&H and Canon. Turns out I can't bypass the compartment as those batteries are needed to charge the circuit board.
It stinks to have to look at this thing...and to not be able to use it. Guess I'll send it into Canon for repairs. Thanks anyway. PF Also, anyone in NYC know of a good cam repair shop? Would rather go that route. |

Re: Hope for this 550 EX
Hello Photofool and welcome to Pixalo.
If in NYC then BHPhoto ( Linky here ) is a well regarded dealer that will be able to help you out. Get an estimate first though as you may find that depending on the amount of damage it could be cheaper to buy a replacement. Let us know how you get on ![]() |

Re: Hope for this 550 EX
Thanks Steve,
That's what I was afraid of. Problem is you have to mail the flash in, to get an estimate. I don't mind equiptment going bad. But after one use? It's like a date going bad before you get to the movie. PF |
