Just got one of these: Summit PS5

I use a couple of good scanners but this will let you proof a whole film in well under 10 minutes. The output quality isn't too bad either

(BTW: Station Cameras in Reading are selling them for £20 less than RRP)

Re: If you use 35mm, this is a must have...

I wonder what the quality of the image is like. Some reviews/example scans would be good. Currently use a Nikon Filmscanner.

Nice price.

It's no Coolscan but the quality is just fine for proofing, which is what I wanted it for. I'll definitely be keeping my Plustek for serious work.

Why not the much cheaper Summit SP2 Photofix Film and Slide Scanner - 35mm

Same engine just not battery driven (and not too sure why anyone would need a self contained unit anyway as easy to attach to a laptop)

Nothing wrong with that either.

I like the fact that the SP5 is completely stand-alone, so no need to carry a lap-top. I always have a USB booster battery in my pocket, so I can proof a dozen or more films at a time, if I wish.
