I teach because I enjoy helping students, not because I want to test my knowledge of something :o) If you have a question, no matter how basic you might think it is, I will personally GUARANTEE you there is someone else reading the answer that will be glad of it because they didn't know it either. So by asking you are helping others who are perhaps a bit shy or whatever.

The great thing about Pixalo is that nobody EVER thinks anyone is stupid just because they don't know something. We are all learning and if ever I stop then I will lose interest in life itself!

Glad to see that Woody's getting control of his computer. I've been programming the damned things for thirty years and they still defeat me on a regular basis!

Jessops are an odd bunch - varying from the tragically awful to the amazingly good, often in the same branch. Last year, I bought a Panasonic Digi from them at an amazing price and the sales lass figured out how to give me an extra 5% discount. At another branch, I asked about Crumpler backpacks only to be told that Crumpler only do slip cases for computers. Very definitely. I've resisted the temptation to go back to that particular branch with my Brian's Bathtub on the grounds it would be cruel and unusual punishment.

Surprised at so many negative experiences with Jessops' price matching. I've used it a couple of times, both with no problems whatsoever. Yes, they will only match UK internet stores, but that's not unreasonable - they are selling UK stock, and there's a reason UK suppliers don't sell stuff as cheap as HK suppliers - they can't do it and stay in business!

Even so, you're basically getting the ability to buy from a proper store at the cheapest UK price you can find - and there's so many UK internet stores around these days that you can get a pretty good price!

In addition, you get the advantage of their generous returns policy - I bought a Sigma 10-20mm from them in June this year, used it for a couple of weeks and discovered that it was very soft on the right side (a known QC issue with the Sigma lens), and returned it without any questions asked - they didn't even check the box to make sure the lens was in it! Buy it off the 'net and you have to package it up and send it back, usually within 7 days. And if you bought it from a HK store and it's a soft copy, well, forget it.

So yes, they have their problems - the sales assistants are usually clueless, their shelf prices are very expensive, and their range is limited. But if you know that and work around it, you can get a decent deal.
