Just bought a Kenko 2x Teleplus Pro 300 DG - £80.99

Well after nearly buying the Nikon 80-400mm, I thought I better first try out the Kenko 2x Teleplus Pro 300 DG convertor first with my Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 . The loss of 2 stops means I'll be running at a consitent f/5.6, which should be OK.

Just got to see a) what image quality drop I notice & b) how steady my hand is

For the sake of £81 from HK, if I don't get on with it, I'm sure I can sell it for minimal / no loss on a certain auction site

I'll keep you posted on my experiences

Re: Kenko 2x Teleplus Pro 300 DG - £80.99

Good luck I have the 2.0x and 1.4x and real life use is a good as all the test results. Ie they sit either side of my Nikon 1.7 TCII and at least as good as the Nikon 1.4 and 2.0x Mk1 TC that they replaced. They only downside is that they are not weather sealed. The upside is that they will work with virtually all lenses unlike the Nikon ones.

Re: Kenko 2x Teleplus Pro 300 DG - £80.99

is off topic but other lenses to consider,.

Nikon AF-S 70-300mm VR - this looks really good deal at ~300 GBP, if you don't need 400 on the long end

Nikon AF-S 200mm f/2G ED-IF VR - and add TC's - the lens is a modern marvel, only 2.3k GBP

btw I don't have either lens - lol

I could not find it in the reviews. I would like to know more about this one, I was just going to buy one last week but decided to wait.
