which lens again

in my last post i asked the question which lens between these three
Tamron AF28-75mm f2.8 XR Di
Sigma 17-70 f2.8-4.5 DC Macro Nikon
Sigma 28-70mm f2.8 EX DG

i made my mind up on the tamron but i got talking to someone from my local photo shop and he suggested this one
Nikon - AF Nikkor Lens - 24-120mm f/3.5-5.6G ED-IF AF-S VR = £349

now im all confused again, anyone got one of these, any advice would be welcome

i was thinking about that nikon too but ive heard loads of people saying its soft and not worth the cash. if you want that range and don't need the f2.8 why not consider the nikkor 24-120 non vr, you can only get them second hand but they are widely regarded to be sharper and better built. read the review on fred miranda. www.ffordes.com have them and so do www.mifsuds.com they go for about £200-220 usually.

another one to confuse you!!

24/28 is not very wide for a DSLR with their crop factor, have you got something to cover the wider end of the range?

Well I guess the combination of a Sigma 10-20 (or equivalent) and a 24-... will be fine then.

I can't advise you on which one though as I don't have any of them!
