Re: lens choice

I've moved your thread here as it is more appropriate forum and should get you more replies.

The Tamron gets good press and other members have used the earlier version with great success. Bear in mind that Sigma make an 18-250mm lens too.

In practice I think there won't be much difference between the Tamron 18-270 or the Sigma 18-250, so I guess some research will make the decision easier. The Sigma is 30-40 cheaper but there are two versions available. One has macro in the title, but I doubt that this will mean that it will actually perform like a dedicated macro lens.

Re: lens choice

Hi Shaver, by coincidence there is a review of the Tamron Vs Sigma in the May issue of Digital Photo.
It was a fairly close thing and they each had pros and cons. See if you can get a copy, failing that, send me a PM and I will send it to you. As for the cannon 18 /135 is I have one amongst my C size kit and it is a good lens getting an excellent grading in What Digital Camera reviews, it is a sharp lens and the I.S. is usefull. Hope this helps, Charles.

Re: lens choice

I've just re-checked the price of the Tamron and it seem to be a lot higher than the Sigma - almost twice the price! I think the info I used from Camera Price Buster must have been for the older model.
