lens query...
hi there - ok, got a canon 400D and I've got the following lense -
Canon EF 80-200 f/4.5-5.6 II Lens which I paid 51 quid for - and it's a good lense! however, I've been offered the following lense (plus UV filter) - Canon EF 70-210mm 1:3.5-4.5 Ultrasonic (review here (second lens down) - Canon EF 70-210mm Tele-Zoom lenses - Part II for 150 pounds...according to the seller - he says it's a leap over mone and the next one up from his is the L series... what do you reckon...is it worth the jump..? is it a good price too? cheers

Re: lens query...
I guess it depends on how happy you are with your existing lens, you say it's good. I don't have either so can't comment on their quality.
You're not gaining much in terms of 80-200 to a 70-210. If you're happy with your current lens I'd maybe think about putting the money towards a lens that gives you different photographic opportunities, eg longer telephoto, wider lens eg 28mm etc. No sure of the price, I guess you can search the web / ebay to get an idea. |

Re: lens query...
No, I'm sorry - I wouldn't. This lens was discontinued a while ago and technology has moved on. He would be lucky to get much over £100 for it on eBay. It is true that, at the time, the next step up was the 70-200 f/2.8L, but the one you are looking at is not in the same league. It depends on your budget of course, but I'd put the money towards something newer and better.
Just my 2p though, and I'm sure you would take some good pics with it if you decided to get it. |
