Lens request and a lens/tc question

Morning all

Firstly.
My new lenses arrived this morning so if one of you mods would kindly put the following in the equipment review list and once I've have a goodly play I'll write reviews on the following;
Sigma 150 - 500mm Canon fit.
Sigma 18 - 125mm Canon fit.
Sigma 1.4x TC.

Secondly
Mmmm feeling a bit stupid as I think I already know the answer to this. But I'm going to ask anyway.

Would one of you goodly guru's kindly tell me why when I have the following connected to my 350D a 1.4 TC, 2.0 TC plus 150-500mm I only get a 1,000mm zoom?
Am I right in thinking that you can only use one TC at a time?

Ta muchly in advance.

I'll get it sorted out later today for you - thanks for doing it

No, you can stack TCs, so you should get 2.4 x 500mm at the long end. Could be the camera is not detecting both, so only putting the one in the EXIF. Bet camera's noticed you've lost 3 stops tho'!

I recently tried a Canon 300mm f2.8 with stacked Canon 1.4 and 2X converters but the exif only showed 600mm (and f5.6 ). I had to fit them in this order Lens => 1.4 => 2X => Camera.

Mike
Trust Sigma to be the other way round!!
lens=>> x2 TC=>> 1.4TC=>> Camera.
I've tried this setup on both my Canon 35D and my Canon 30D both of which have the latest firmware updates installed yet when you look at the exif data it only shows up to and no more than 1,000mm a odd connumdrum me thinks

Re: Lens request and a lens/tc question

I think it's a TC issue as opposed to the camera. I was using my 1D2n when I was playing.

Re: Lens request and a lens/tc question

Mike
I've asked the same question with Sigma and their reply is

"We would not suggest or recommend using 2 tcs together, the lens is
probably only picking up the 2x converter which is why you are getting a
reading of 1000mm. The lens may not pick up both tcs as it was designed
to work in this way".

Think that sums that one up, so I would think maybe that if the same was asked with Canon the chances are that they'd give the same or very to the same advice
