Re: Lens wish list

Something big with USM and IS would love a Sigma 10-20 but i had to sacrifice it for a 20d!

Re: Lens wish list

I want to get an ultra wide angle lens, something 10-20, 10-18, or 12-24 range. I'd also like to pick up the 70-200 f/4 (and eventually the f/2.8) and the bigma. Then again, with all that money I could put a down payment on a house. Man.. what a tough choice

Re: Lens wish list

Would like something at the bottom end, Sigma 10-20mm, and something at the top end, Sigma 80-400mm OS (with a 1.4x!). Maybe when I sell the house (and yes, it's on the market!)

Re: Lens wish list

I don't have one since I'm pretty well covered - a Sigma 10-20 at the wide end, a 100-400 to cover the long end and a 24-105 for the in between. Add to that a 50mm f1.8 and 100mm Macro what more could I wish for.............well, maybe an EF600mm f4.0 L IS USM

Re: Lens wish list

Mine is soooooooo modest. A Nifty will do me very nicely for now.

After my D200 arrives (don't hold your breath), probably some faster glass in the mid range.

Re: Lens wish list

A simple task and presented in order of priority:
  • 10.5MM f/2.8 DX fisheye - £450
  • 300mm f/2.8 VR - £3000
  • 105mm f/2.8 VR Macro - £500
  • 400mm f/2.8 (but only if they bring out a VR version) - £5500
  • 200-400mm f/4 VR - £4000
  • 200mm f/2 - £2500
That only leaves out two lenses that I'd like Nikon to design/release:
  1. AF-S 20mm f/1.4G prime
  2. AF-S 28-70mm f/2.8G VR
And perhaps, whilst they're at it, update the 50mm and 85mm f/1.4 lenses to AF-S G types too (f/1.2 would be really nice as well )

So that makes for just under another £16,000 in lenses to pick up over the next few years - excluding anything new that Nikon might put out. Proof positive that you spend more on your lens collection (investments) than you ever will on cameras.

Sometimes I wonder; if someone had told me exactly how much I was likely to spend on cameras and lenses when turning full-time pro, would I have still done it?? I'd probably have laughed and said "Yeah, right... £28K on camera gear for myself... HA!"

When I was in York recently, I got the Jessop's on the corner by the church down to £300 (one-stop digital price at the time £270) for the Sigma 10-20 with hardly any effort - then they did not have one with a Nikon fit!

I don't know if the manger is still there or not as I then got a Sigma 70-200 f2.8 + a Hoya 77mm filter for £520, and maybe he has been blamed for their current predicament!

Re: Lens wish list

I've been lusting after the Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 USM L IS for a while now, gonna have to treat myself one day, oh and a Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM would be nice.

None of which will be arriving on my doorstep anytime soon
