Lightcraft ND mk11 filter

Hi,

Have you used or got an opinion of the Lightcraft ND mk11 filter.

I have read the speel on the website which sounds great, i then read a couple of forums and the reviews were not as great.

I am after long exposure during daylight, i.e smooth water and moving clouds...

Many thanks Arras

Re: Lightcraft ND mk11 filter

I have not done this sort of photography ,but if you have read bad reports on it I would steer clear of it.
A lot of threads suggest using welding glass to try out long exposures, but it gives a green cast to the pics,so use RAW and compensate in P&P

Have a look here
welding glass items - Get great deals on Business, Office Industrial, Sporting Goods items on eBay UK!

Thank you, i have no idea how welding glass can be used to obtain the same effect but thank you for your reply. )

Re: Lightcraft ND mk11 filter

I think that both Lee and B&W do 10 stop ND filters and you will probably do best by going down these routes.

Orangepeel certainly used the B&W to good effect

Re: Lightcraft ND mk11 filter

No the one you link to is a grad, not a pure ND. You need the B&W 110.

If you are after the 72mm size they make two - the standard one

72MM ND 3.0-1,000X (110) - Schneider Optics

And the slimline mount versionvto minimise/eliminate vignetting

72MM SLIM ND 3.0-1000X (110) - Schneider Optics

Pretty sure these are the ones.

Yep - knew that - just showing you what the product is. The links you have posted also appear to show the correct product, but not sure if I'd trust e-bay at around $100 less than the RRP, might be a fake!

If you hold fire for a bit someone like Orangepeel or Jag who have these filters will tell you where they bought theirs

I think Warehouse Express are trustworthy for another 5:

B+W 77mm 3.0/1000x (110) Neutral Density Filter (BW66729) - Warehouse Express

Edit: Just realised that the WE link is for a 77mm.

Re: Lightcraft ND mk11 filter

Certainly looks the same - I think the 110 designation is the identifier.

To double check you can always phone them and ask if it is the 10 stop ND filter.
