Re: Lightweight tripod?

Cheap + lightweight + tripod = wobbly

If someone has found something good, I'd be interested. My Manfrotto is heavy. Its good though.

Have you considered a monopod? Not as good I know, but easily transported.

Re: Lightweight tripod?

If light weight is an important factor I think that carbon fibre is the way to go, but they are not cheap.

If you only want it for your holiday, how about renting one?

Re: Lightweight tripod?

I use a small Manfrotto, that fits into my case but once it was smashed really badly whilst still in the case I think a jumbo had run over it! manfrotto replaced the broken parts free of charge but that was a long time ago, I still have the tripod and still use it!

Re: Lightweight tripod?

For travelling light I use a Manfrotto 785b - About £40.

Of course lightweight at that proce means com promises but it fits in my hand luggage and does the job ok-ish.

Re: Lightweight tripod?

Personally, I use my Benbo Mini Trekker (I just love Benbos and have the Benbo Trekker as my main tripod) but it is small. But can usually find something to stand it on or wedge it in and it is very solid - an anglefinder then becomes very useful!

Re: Lightweight tripod?

Depends what exactly your doing but why not consider a Joby Gorillopod? Very light and small, the DSLR one is not too expensive, around £35-£40 last time I looked. You can usually find somewhere/thing to set them up on which give simalar results to using a tripod.

Re: Lightweight tripod?

I am using a Jessops Major Carbon Fibre tripod. It is nice and light to carry around. And for the price, under 100 pounds, I think it is good value for money.
