Hi Everyone,

With it fast approaching the festive season, I have relatives asking me what I would like for christmas, now I could reel off loads of gear that I would like but for the cost I don't think I would get any of it.

Can anyone give me some pointers in the direction of a good "all-round" lens for a Canon 400D that I could leave on the camera, something for general use, around the £200-300 mark.

The classic 'all round' lens is the 18-200. Sigma and Tamron do lenses in this range, and Tamron also do a 18-250. They come with or without stabilisation, the stablised ones will be at/slightly beyond your top price.

Looking at your gear you have this range covered already, so maybe a Sigma 10-20? If you really want a single lens that is a do-it-all in one lens the 18-200/250 will be the one but it will overlap your existing kit.
