m42-eos adapters
im loking at these adapters on ebay because i have some old m42 lenses at home and would like to put them to good use.
im a bit cautious of the ones on ebay though with regard to infinity focus and more importantly damaging the camera. (shiny new 20d that i havent had the chance to use properly). are there any dodgy ones i should steer clear of or are there any particularly good ones out there? |

I don't know of any dodgy ones but SRB Film are a highly recommended UK manufacturer and supplier that will be able to help. I have used them as have some of the other members here, their prices are keen and the service is excellent.

I have not used an M42 adaptor but I have used a few other adaptors on my 20D. A reversing adaptor to mount an old manual lens backwards for macro, Spacer tubes adaptor and a T mount adaptor with a thread that is not quite M42 for connecting it to a telescope.
The common factor is that they are a bit fiddly to get off afterwards as there is not much to get grip on to twist them off. I think damage to the camera is a bit unlikely. Another common factor I found is dust. messing about with non std bits and pieces does introduce dust into the camera a bit more rapidly than just using standard lenses. I've cleaned my sensor several times and think nothing of it. Until you have done it a couple of times yourself it can be intimidating and maybe put you off experimenting.

I just bought one m42 adapter from ebay and I can confirm it focuses to infinity.
