Macro lens advice

Man. That looks like a kick ass lens! I found another review of it here: Nikon AF-S VR Micro-Nikkor 105mm f/2.8G IF-ED which pretty much backs up everything you wrote in yours Charlotte. I need to go blow the moths out of the wallet and see what pennies are lodged down the back of the sofa.

[Edit] Looks like it also won Lens of the Year Award 2007 in Amateur Photographer magazine.
[Edit] I now have one winging it's way towards me. *woohoo*

On another note...I need to keep away from threads in this part of the forum

Save your cash, get a sigma 105mm, slow a/f, hunts quite a bit, but who uses a/f in macro shots. Great lens.

And the lens is in. I've been going wild on my daughter this afternoon

I haven't had time yet to do any macro. But I can't wait

The kids will have to come with me to the park tomorrow. And I don't think they mind either

It's a great lens to use as a short telephoto and a great performing macro lens. My only reservation is that as Nikon have now accepted VR makes no difference at 1:1 and also that to accomodate the non extending focusing system (which has some real advantages) at 1:1 means the real 1:1 maximum aperture is f4.8. So handholding for macro is actually easier in a lot of circumstances with one of the third party lenses which have the comedy telescoping design.
