Re: Manfrotto 190XPROB + 486RC2 Tripod Kit

I think with tripods they are pretty much of a muchness, the name is sononymous with quality and as long as its caters for what you have in mind and its going to be sturdy enough not to blow away in a good wind then go for it, as for the head I have one of these and whilst they are great quality I personally found it a bit long winded when wanting to move the camera position, having to loosen three different handles for direction becomes a chore, its probably more suited for studio work, I changed mine for a grip ball head which suits me better due to the one handle configuration, I found it a lot easier and quicker to use, .

Re: Manfrotto 190XPROB + 486RC2 Tripod Kit

RAY IT DEPENDS WHAT YOU WANT TO USE THE TRIPOD FOR,AND WHERE.

IF YOU ARE GOING TO CARRY IT FOR LONG HIKES, OR USE IT IN A STUDIO,OR AT HOME.

I HAVE A MANFRETTO 475 TRIPOD AND 405 GEARED HEAD TOGETHER THEY WEIGH
A TON, I WOULD NOT WANT TO CARRY IT TO FAR, BUT IT IS AS SOLID AS A ROCK
AND VERY EASY TO USE, ONE HANDED OPERATION. BUT THIS ALSO DEPENDS ON
YOUR BUDGET.

BUT I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS COMBINATION.

Re: Manfrotto 190XPROB + 486RC2 Tripod Kit

Build quality is excellent. Today, a photographer at work dropped a Manfrotto out of a loft and it went down all of the stairs and landed in the ground floor hall. The tripod is unmarked and undamaged. I think it was an 095.

The sound effects were brilliant - especially the wailing of the 'tog to take cover!

Fortunately, the D2x was not attached.

Re: Manfrotto 190XPROB + 486RC2 Tripod Kit

Ray, I recently bought the Manfrotto 190XProB with 804RC2 head from Morris Photo and it seems very good though I have not had much opportunity to use it yet. I selected this after obtaining a full Manfrotto catalogue. This was very helpful in taking you through the different tripods and heads to determine which is right for your circumstances as well as the right combination. It made it easy for me to choose the above combination.
