MANFROTTO 190XPROB TRIPOD + the 3 way 804RC2 HEAD

I was looking to see people's opinion on "MANFROTTO 190XPROB TRIPOD + the 3 way 804RC2 HEAD". It's my birthday soon, and my gf is 'willing' :-) to buy me a tripod.....

What do people think to this combination.... or suggestions of tripods in the similar price range...

Thanks....!

This is a good tripod, but from memory, where this has been discussed previously, the weight has been an issue.

I'm sure that members who have experience with this and other tripods will be along soon to add their comments.

The 190 isn't as heavy as the 055 which I have and don't use much because it weighs a lot and I'm lazy.

If your gf is feeling very generous, persuade her to buy you a carbon fibre tripod which will give you the strength without so much weight.

Re: MANFROTTO 190XPROB TRIPOD + the 3 way 804RC2 HEAD

I have the 190XProB and the 460MG head - works for me!
Although I must admit I've not used it heavily (forgive the pun) as yet. So far I have not found weight an issue.

Re: MANFROTTO 190XPROB TRIPOD + the 3 way 804RC2 HEAD

I've got the 190ProB (non X version, not sure what the difference is) and the 804 RC2 head.

As was previously mentioned the weight of this combination is an issue when carrying it about, but on the plus side they are both very sturdy and the 804 is strong enough to take a Canon 100-400 with camera + grip without suffering movement due to the weight once it's set to where you want it.

Re: MANFROTTO 190XPROB TRIPOD + the 3 way 804RC2 HEAD

Hi, I am also looking to buy a new tripod and have been looking around. Several photographers have recommended the very combination that you quote. I already have a fairly cheap lightweight Velbon but it is not sturdy enough for some photography and the head is not very versatile. I plan to have a play with one before I buy but the 190XProB with 804RC2 looks good to me.

Re: MANFROTTO 190XPROB TRIPOD + the 3 way 804RC2 HEAD

I order the Manfrotto 190XPROB with 804RC2 and it arrived today only £139 from Morris Photographic (special offer). It look like the best quality tripod I have owned so maybe I will be encouraged to use it more often.

Re: MANFROTTO 190XPROB TRIPOD + the 3 way 804RC2 HEAD

I have now got my tripod combination, and it is excellent... easy to extend the size... solid... (Also purchased from Morris..)

The head, although large is excellent..... I will go and actually use it today.... then review it ....

Thanks for all advice given... thanks..
