manfrotto 3 way head (460MG)anyone used one?
Hi I want to get a 3-way head for my manfrotto 190MF4 tripod ( I already have a ball head) and want as light as is practical for a nikon D80 with decent lenses. Is it worth paying extra for the 460MG over the basic pan tilt head (804RC) do you think? I'm aware that ease of adjustment is also a factor to consider, so wonder what it's like in use.
Thanks, Ruth |

Re: manfrotto 3 way head (460MG)anyone used one?
I've not used one of these, but have used quite a few other types of pan/tilt heads. I prefer a ball head as they are much easier/quicker to use. The advantage the P/T heads have is that you can lock off one or two axis and change the other, so only moving one of the three ways. I've never needed to do this for the photography i do.

Yes, I have one. I find it absolutely fine to use and am pleased with it. It does takes a little bit of getting used to find the 'biting' point of each thread, but it's all part of getting to know the equipment and making it work for you.

I've got the 804RC2 and as a 3-way pan & tilt head I think it's very good, and not that heavy. I'll be selling it on soon though as it's not really compatible with the photography I'm doing.
