my first camera... and extras????
Ok thanks to all for your advice. Off to get one today but I am still unsure of what lenses to get.
Thinking if I ask to shop guy he will rip me off. So want to go in with some info. To start I need what... a wider lens/longer lens... they are many of these I know so some guidance wouldnt go amiss. thanks all |

Re: my first camera... and extras????
A good general purpose lens is the 18-200. Sigma, Tamron and Nikon do this sort of lens. There are downsides too - at the 200mm end the aperture is quite slow, around f6.3 on the Sigma and Tamron.
Depending on what camera you buy, the Nikon 18-70 is a very nice lens, but I'm not so well up on the Canon lenses other than the 17-40L which is more expensive. Sigma do a 17-70 f2.8 and Tamron also cover this range. I think you need to do do plenty of research to ensure you get the kit that will suit what you want to do to start off with.
