Needed screw with both sides 3/8 thread

Hi all, I have been searching for a screw with both sides 3/8 thread on for my velbon sherpa pro cf-635 with Manfrotto 498RC2 head. I've got a temp solution, but need something more stable and just don't know what or where to go. I can find adapters for the 1/4 going to 3/8 screw. But isn't there shop that just sells the proper screw with both sides 3/8 thread?

I've got this: http://http://www.amazon.co.uk/Manfr...0668341&sr=1-3 with little adapter.

Any advice will be much appreciated.

Hi Dutchie, have you tried speed graphic.co.uk They have lots of things no one else seems to stock and may be worth a look.
Hopes this is useful, Charles.

Re: Needed screw with both sides 3/8 thread

I'm sure that you can get an adaptor to convert a 1/4" thread to a 3/8" easily if that will do the job.

Pack of Two Camera Tripod Monopod Bush Thread Converter Adapters 1/4" to 3/8" | eBay

Lots of different ones available, some have a knurled part with the thread protruding with a 1/4" threaded socket, these ones just convert the thread.

Re: Needed screw with both sides 3/8 thread

Graham, those are not very stable. I've got one and it easily turns back off. These have only 2 spirals going round. The ones on amazon have got 3. Anyway, if have ordered a set from Amazon, hopefully they will do.

Woody, it was not just a normal screw thread either, can't formulate it any other how. My father in law had been looking in his cupboard for something but nothing was good enough.

Thank you all for thinking with me

Re: Needed screw with both sides 3/8 thread

You can uses a 3/8" UNC thread with 16 threads per inch. Any good metal supplier should be able to source on for you. Tripod heads are usually BSW but UNC will work as no-one stocks BSW any more.
