New Lens

Me again , need some help on deciding which lens to go for, I am selling my nikon 80-200 AF-ED as its a little old but in excellent condition, and I now have an 18-200 which tends to spend the most time on the front of my camera, I'm trying to get a set of lenses to cater for most scenarios but my dilemma is should I go for a 70-200 F2.8 and also a X2 converter or should I go for a 300 F2.8 and a X2 converter , or can anyone suggest any other options that maybe I'm over looking. Many Thanks

Re: New Lens

Well I can think of 2000 reasons which may influence going for the 300 over the 70-200!

A large aperture telephoto is quite a specialist piece of kit - can you expand a little on how you intend to use it?

Re: New Lens

As it stands at the moment I have a range of lenses that caters for anything from 12mm to 200mm and I get situations where I could do with a lens that offers more range, for when I'm taking shots at grasstracking, bike racing, music gigs or wild life situations where I can't get really close to the action. My indecision is do I go for the flexibility of the 70-200 with a X1.7 / X2 or do I opt outright for the 300mmm, the other factor is would I notice the difference in quality from the 70-200 to the 18-200 and would the 70-200 just sit in my rucksack
