New Nikon DSLR?

I see some reports in various places a new Nikon DSLR is to be announced imminiatly, One report says D3x with 24 mp sensor. and various other "toys"
When and if it comes be interesting to see what the D3 will drop to.

Re: New Nikon DSLR?

Why will it need to drop. Surely the D3X is taking on the 1Ds ?

Re: New Nikon DSLR?

Well it's definitely a D3X
Exactly the same as the D3 except
24.5 Mp sensor
5FPS at full res 7Fps at 10Mp DX crop mode
ISO 100-1600 native extendable to ISO 50 and 6400
And just read a new "Extra High" D-kighting setting as well. Can't see me using that but hey its shiny and new so therfore good

Re: New Nikon DSLR?

There is always that possibility. But a D700x may be tempting. This doesn't need to be as rugged as a D3 as it's a studio and landscape beast. But I'd miss the 100% viewfinder and twin card slots especially with such large files

Re: New Nikon DSLR?

I'll say it right now: I have no need for a D3x

That said, if had the spare disposable cash (c. £4000 I reckon) then I wouldn't say no to one either. I'm doing a lot more portrait work these days - both private clients and access to "VIP's" at events - so having the luxury of large, detailed files would never hurt... at a price that makes a lot more sense than investing in MF digital kit.

Re: New Nikon DSLR?

I was having a walk around Birmingham to-day (well I am retired) and I came across 5 pro photographers taking pictures of a well known TV (thats short for Television) personality 3 were using D3X and 2 were using D3 s I poked my nose in and asked why and 2 answered theres no noise in the results they said its a bit tech for you to understand........
