Nikon UK have just received their allocation so stock restrictions may be starting to ease.

Re: Nikon 50mm 1.8

Been having a think and I may buy the Sigma 30mm 1.4 instead. Will have to wait until my next paycheck comes through since I've just had to renew my car insurance - loads of money!

Sil,

Be sure to try before you buy since the Sigma has been known to have sample variations; if you can find a good copy, though, you should be on to a winner - 30mm is a more effective focal length for a dSLR, and the f/1.4 aperture devours available light.

The lowest UK domestic price is around the £265 mark and Jessops should be able to price match that; you'd only save about £40 in ordering from one of the eBay Hong Kong dealers.

If I were you, I'd spend the extra and order locally just in case you get a bad copy - it'd make exchanging the lens so much easier if this were the case.

I ordered one from one-stop less than a week ago, and according to the tracking it's on it's way.

Re: Nikon 50mm 1.8

And are there more nice reviews about this lens I really don't know what to do. I'm doubting wether it is usefull for me to go for this lens first. Or go for the 70-300 nikkor lens. Big difference in money, but i think something i wanted from the start. More zoom.

Re: Nikon 50mm 1.8

You won't regret it. I got a rubber lens hood and a Hoya 1b filter from SRB for about £20 to go with it.

The lens hood can stay on the lens and just folds flat when in the bag.

No don't think so either. All the reviews are so positive about this lens. And for that price you can't go wrong. Just had a look at some photo's and they look good taken with this lens. I can't wait
