nikon 85 mm

just bought this lens of fleabay for £200 3 months old, they are £321 at warehouse express so i think ive got a bargin,can't wait for it to arrive and have a play.
my question is has anyone got one what they think of it.

That's a great price !! Never used one but I know some people prefer it for portrait work over the 50mm, especially if you like tight head crops.

85mm lens is a fantastic lens for portrait work in/out of studio.

If you've got 85mm in the range of one of your zooms, it's always fun to do a comparison shoot. Then you'll feel really good about the prime

Ive got a Nikon AF-S VR 24-120 F3.5-5.6G Lens IF ED so i could do comparison shoot with that

A bit of topic - but are you getting it because the VR lens is not sharp enough ?

The reason I ask is that I was thinking of getting the 24-120 but keep being put off by the bad press

no its a lovely walk about lens, i need the cash because im getting the nikon 17-55 lens, the colours are great and its very sharp, i would definately reccomend it. hope this helps David

Now I'm unsure - replace my 35-70 f/2.8 or go for this and VR..........
