Nikon AF-S 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G VR - VR allows 1/10 sec handheld at 300mm !!
Had a quick play with the Nikon AF-S 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G VR lens today, & have to say I am mighty impressed by the VR function. Managed to get pretty sharp shots at 300mm @ 1/10 sec exposure
 I'll have to try some tripod shots for out & out test of sharpness at 300mm, but so far the lens is looking very promising  |

These were indoors whilst rest of family watching telly ... like you Angela, need to put some time aside to try out in the field

You'll have to excuse the composition of this shot, as I was testing DOF. Pre focused on light behind. Taken hand held,300mm, f/5.6, 1/10 sec (no flash)

wow....i'm impressed.....
I'm picking up the 55-200 VR along with my D300 in a couple hours.....i'm hoping they'll be as sharp as that |
