Nikon Coolpix CP8800 and Studio Flash.

Hi' all.
has anyone used a Nikon Coolpix 8800 in a studio?? and fired the studio flashes (Bowens or ===) using a falsh trigger (Trig. on Camera Shoe and the receiver plugged into the strobe???
in the Club studiop last Thursday, I hooked up my Coolpix to the strobes using this setup and the flashes would Not fire.
the triggers we were using fired al other cameras 9CANON,oLYMPUS, pENTAX BUT no nIKONS.
ANYONE WITH ANY THOUGHTS OR SUGGESTIONS??

my first thoughts would be a hot shoe setting or a hotshoe problem
