Nikon D80 Not working right

I have a new Nikon D80, 18-135. Takes photos normally, focus, shutter etc, all features work fine, all photos turn out black with some red, can not even identify what the photo is of. Lcd still displays photo taken before this problem started. Tried resetting camera and and reformatted card.

Re: Nikon D80 Not working right

That is a strange one Paul I think we need a little more information. When you say it takes photos normally, do you mean the camera does focus, and the LCD displays the image, or does the LCD produce the black and red? If the LCD will not display an image, the file is probably not being written to the card.

Have you tried a different memory card, (and is the write lock on?) removing and refitting the battery, and re-setting the camera?

I've not heard of this before, so unless someone else can suggest something, maybe a trip back to the dealer is in order.

Re: Nikon D80 Not working right

You might want to try formatting the SD card with the D80. Cameras can have problems with cards formatted by PCs. It's a quick hold down of the two "format" buttons and then pressing format again when it's blinking "FOR" or whatever is on the top LCD. I do this every time I put my memory card into the camera after copying files.

Beyond that, I don't know, but more information would be helpful.
