Nikon - EOS adaptors

Having just added a 5D to my collection, I've been looking around at better wide angle glass, specifically the Nik 14-24 f2.8 which everyone seems to love. (I'm aware I'll lose loads of functions but manual focusing isn't a prob, especially if I'm doing panoramics).

Being a Canon man I'm not familiar with the Nikon nomenclature on mount types and designations

Now I know Novoflex do a high quality one and there's a crowd called 16:9.net who seem to do one. However these both appear to be like rocking horse whatsit so I was wondering if someone a) could explain the Nik set up, and b) point me in the direction of a decent adaptor, and one that's in stock.

The Canon 16-35L II would be an obvious upgrade over my 17-40L but the Nik is wider, (better?) and a similar price.

Cheers

Mike

Have you thought about a sigma 10-20? I've got one and it is very nice for wide landscape shots.

Whilst I'd definitely agree that the Sigma 10-20mm lens is great (I use one too!) it is a DC lens, so aimed at crop sensors not full frame like the 5D

Re: Nikon - EOS adaptors

Stephen is selling his Sigma 12-24mm that works perfectly on the 5D. At a shoot with Stephen I compared it to the Sigma 10-20mm on my Nikon D200 & was most jealous at the extra degrees of view

Re: Nikon - EOS adaptors

Cheers for the replies thus far.

My Sigma 15mm f2.8 fish has been great on X1.6 & X1.3 bodies but I can see the IQ goes rather downhill at the edges.

Similarly my Tokina 10 - 17 fish is a great little lens but I lose the 10 - 14.5mm of the range due to the monster lens hood vignetting on a FF

I did speak to a chap at Speedgraphic about the Novoflex and let's just say he was as much help as a handbrake on a canoe......
