Nikon full frame mirrorless

Just been looking at the new Nikon Z6 and Z7 mirror less full frame cameras.
Although I am a "Canon man" I was pleasantly surprised at the price and specs of these cameras, and new lens, they are also doing an adapter for the new lens mount.
I hope this introduction means Canon will soon being announcing one of their own.

Re: Nikon full frame mirrorless

I am sure I will also buy a mirrorless full frame at some stage in the future. However, a key requirement will be a large weight reduction which probably means more compact lighter lenses as well. Hopefully, a couple of lenses might then cover all I need. I expect to retain my current DSLR when I buy into mirrorless to use in the more demanding special shoots. I am certainly keeping an open mind about manufacturer. Just because my kit is currently Canon does not mean I have to continue that way.

Re: Nikon full frame mirrorless

First impressions are that there are few controls on the camera body and I assume that there will be a greater requirement to use the menus for many functions I can currently access with a button or a button and control wheel.

Thinking of exposure compensation, bracketing and metering mode. Also assigning functions to buttons will be more limited than my dSLR as there are fewer buttons.

Re: Nikon full frame mirrorless

I must admit one of my initial thoughts was that Nikon has taken a leaf out of Leicas Panasonic book and have "badge engineered" these from Sony, they are so similar and they use Sony sensors already.

Not quite. Sony manufacture the Nikon sensors, but the design and intellectual property belongs to Nikon and the sensors are different to Sony sensors.
