Nikon Lens rubber ring slip

I have had a Nikon 18-200 telescopic lens for about 4 years now and the rubber ring which adjusts the focal length has come loose. Does anyone know of any one who can resecure this for me in the Cheltenham area?

Sounds to me like either a Nikon Service centre job, or an independent repairer.

Doubt you will find either locally unless you are very lucky.

I've used a repair centre in Letchworth Camtronics that courier the lens both ways, but others may offer the same convenience.

Hi, I THINK YOU WILL FIND THAT THIS IS QUITE A COMMON FAULT, WITH NIKON 18-200MM LENS. THEY SUFFER FROM " LENS SLIP ", I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MINE AND APPARENTLY, CANNOT BE REPAIRED.

THERE IS SOMETHING ON NIKON'S WEBSITE ABOUT THIS.

ALSO IF YOU DO A SEARCH ON PIXALO, THIS SUBJECT HAS COME UP BEFORE, THIS MAY HELP YOU

Re: Nikon Lens rubber ring slip

I had the same problem with my lens. I took the rubber ring off, cleaned the barrel of the lens then put 2 strips of double sided tape around it, I then eased the rubber ring back onto the lens. It's been over 6 months and is still tight and secure.
