"Nikon" mount?
When a lens says "Nikon Mount" but it's not a Nikon brand lens, does that mean I can safely use it on my D80? I've seen this listed on Ebay.. where it's a different brand lens but a Nikon Mount.
Sorry for the stupid question..

Re: "Nikon" mount?
Yep - I've got two Sigma lenses that have Nikon mounts. Most third party lenses are made with mounts to suit the main camera makes. Year ago Tamron used to have a system called 'Adaptall'. They only made the lenses with a fitting for their adapters and you just bought different adapters if you changed camera brands. This made it very easy and cheap to go from (say) Olympus to Pentax - you kept the lens and just bought one or more new adapters.
Now the makers make the lenses in different fittings to suit different cameras, so as long as the lens you buy has the correct fitting you will have no problems unless the lens is very old when it might fit the body OK, but there might not be the same facilities in metering or autofocus.
