Re: Nikon VR 18-200 lens what are your opinions.
I've been considering this lens for a little while as a walkabout. Regarding lens creeping, what sort of angle are we talking about it for it to start to creep? I'm starting to shoot more buildings and at differing angles, is creeping that big of a problem on this lens?

Re: Nikon VR 18-200 lens what are your opinions.
JAG, I DO NOT THINK THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH ALL NIKON 18 - 200 VR LENSES.
I HAVE THIS PROBLEM WITH MINE, BASICALLY IF I POINT IT DIRECTLY UPWARDS, FOR EXAMPLE TAKING SHOTS OF PLANES, THEN IT WILL CREEP, OR POINTING IT DIRECTLY TO THE GROUND. I HAVE NEVER BOTHERED TO SEND MINE TO NIKON, I JUST PUT UP WITH IT. I AM NOT SURE WHETHER THIS IS A PROBLEM NIKON HAVE LOOKED INTO. MAYBE THEY HAVE RESOLVED THE PROBLEM NOW. I NEVER SENT MINE BACK BECAUSE I THOUGHT EVEN IF THEY TIGHTEN IT UP, IT WILL ONLY COME LOOSE AGAIN. I THINK THE BEST THING WOULD BE TO TRY A COUPLE IN A SHOP AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS. OVERALL I AM VERY PLEASED WITH THE LENS. CHARLOTTE AND ALSO DUTCHIE HAVE RECENTLY BOUGHT THIS LENS, I DO NOT KNOW IF THEY HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM. BEST OF LUCK |

Re: Nikon VR 18-200 lens what are your opinions.
I had one for a little while and I couldn't say about the angle but creep during shooting wasn't the problem for me (Holding the zoom ring will stop that) It was that if you left it slung over your shoulder it would unwind and start catching things.

I have absolutely no idea what creeping is
I'm very happy with the lens as an allrounder though. I like the fact that the focal length is quiet long! |

DUTCHIE LENS CREEP IS WHEN THE LENS MOVES BACK AND FORWARDS, ALWAYS WHEN YOU DON'T WANT IT TO.

Re: Nikon VR 18-200 lens what are your opinions.
Woody, I've never noticed it doing that. But then again, I always hold the lens with one hand. I did found a good explanation on the net. I will see if i can find that link again.

Re: Nikon VR 18-200 lens what are your opinions.
DUTCHIE, IT WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU COULD FIND THE LINK.
I THINK I HAVE MORE PROBLEMS WITH THIS THAN MOST PEOPLE, AS I CANNOT HOLD THE LENS AS WELL AS THE CAMERA, UNLESS I AM USING A TRIPOD. THEREFOR I WOULD IMAGINE MOST PEOPLE WHO USE THIS LENS HAVE NOT REALLY NOTICED THE PROBLEM, AS THEY SUPPORT THE LENS. |
