off camera flash
Been wanting to have a go at using off camera flash for a while now.
The questiion, is it worth paying around £200 + for an sb800 when for about £230 ish I can get 2 sb600. Will be using the d300 as commander. |

Re: off camera flash
I guess it depends on how many times you would use the two flashes together. The more you would use two rather than one alone or one + a reflector, the more sense it is to go for the two.

Re: off camera flash
The SB-800 is a more versatile unit with greater power output than the 600. As Dabhand said, one of the easiest ways to to supplement a single off-camera flash is by using a reflector.

You can get an SB800 for under £200 at Onestop and they have SB600's for under £130

Re: off camera flash
I`m sure the built in flash on the d300 can be used as a commander for the sb600.
Haven`t thought about about using a reflector, I`ve got a lot to think about. Don`t want to buy the sb800 and find that I want a second, funds just won`t allow it. Thanks for the replies and the links |

Re: off camera flash
The D80 can be used as commander for SB-600 and 800, so I'd think the newer and "better" D300 should be able to, too...

I did look in to using Nikon CLS system vs Strobes & went with the latter. For £200 you can buy a starter kit Interfit EX150 Kit |
