Question Ok! I'm in to Russian optics now!

Anyone with any experience with Mc Rubinar 10/1000 Macro Telephoto Lens (MC Rubinar 10/1000 Macro Telephoto Lens for Canon EOS)? Rugif , where I purchased my Peleng sells it at $529. I think it is as much fun at a cheap price as Peleng, or is the quality poor? I'd like to drag that extra 2,3 kg in my bag...

Re: Ok! I'm in to Russian optics now!

Why do you want a 1000mm Macro lens that only focus's a close as 4m !!!

No experience with this, I assume it's a mirror type lens, certainly cheap for the focal length, which makes you wonder about the optical quality.

Just. That's the point. Those mirror lenses are cheaper because, but at that price an uncomfortable and robust lens just for fun, as Peleng... 4m macro is fine if you are afraid of bugs
Could be great to shoot birds or moons, or something at the distance... no use, but nice to have, like a Ferrari.
Those russians that make optics for photography also make lenses for satellites and other military things, better than american lenses... is there any american lens manufacturers?

It's focus is from 4m to infinity - it's the fixed aperture of mirror lenses (f/10 I'm guessing here) which tends to be the big bugbear. Quality's not brilliant but isn't too bad - bokeh exhibits the trademark 'doughnut' shapes

I've used M42 lenses - a brilliant inexpensive way to use a variety of lenses and there's real quality ones out there as well! My Russian is a Zenitar 16mm fisheye, cheaper than the better Peleng but I've received commendations from some of the images I've taken

Good luck with it! Great to see someone experimenting and pushing the boundaries!
