which one?
i have recently had the dreaded error99 appear on my canon 400D . Its been narrowed down to a lens fault, the lens being a tamron 70-300mm. I have been advised that it may cost as much as the lens worth to repair it and maybe buying a new one would be a good move.If i go down this route what is best another tamron 70-300 or is the sigma better? Also is it common for lenes to just fail? this one is 14 months old and been well cared for.

Re: which one?
1st off have you cleaned all the contacts thoroughly on the lens ? If you have, then list it on EBAY with the error described .... you'll be amazed how many people will bid. I once sold a brand new DVD player that was submerged under water for an hour after a flood ..... worked fine on "Finding Nemo"

Re: which one?
I've been lucky so far and haven't had a lens fail. It happens, though.
The Sigma 70-300 APO is reckoned to be a good 'budget' lens, but if you can run to it I'd strongly recommend the Canon 70-300 IS. |
