which one ?

if you about to buy a new lens and your choice was between the canons 70/200 L & the 70/33 IS, and price was an issue but so is IQ which one would you buy.
Just noticed the prices on these, canon 70/200 L £409.00 AND the canon70/300IS £349 not a lot of difference in price here is there? £ 60 notes.
I know this subject has been raised before [yawn ] but with not a big diffence in price,... i wonder.

BEWARE! the £409 may not be genuine. I have ordered from those people and so far no delivery. Have raised it with my credit card company to try and get money back.

Re: which one ?

One-Stop price is also only about £50 difference too - £405 to £457 (ish).

Re: which one ?

I have the 70-300 IS and like it a lot. It's sharp wide-open and the IS works very well. The only drawbacks are no full-time focusing (i.e. no USM ring motor) and rather slow to focus in low light. Perhaps the 70-200 would be better in some respects, but I honestly doubt if any differences in IQ would be apparent and you lose 100mm of reach.

Re: which one ?

Have never used the 70-300, but as I do have the 70-200 F4 L, I can vouch for it's optical quality by looking at the shot's I posted here :- http://www.pixalo.com/community/came...tml#post250800

Re: which one ?

Use the 70-300 and have used the 70-200 F/4 IS and the F/2.8 non-IS

Prefer the 70-200 for it's build and the 70-300 for it's lightness (and it is light and has a plasticy feel after the 70-200). Having said that, get perfectly good pics out of the 70-300, so can't (yet) really justify the 70-200 (but it would be the F/2.8 IS model when I can)
