Online auctions - a word of caution
Hi
Just thought I would share my attempt to replace my Nikkor 35-70 f/2.8 Bought and sold hundreds of things of ebay but things seem to be getting worse........ When I describe items as mint - unmarked - no dust or scratches I mean it and my buyers have been happy. Well my first purchase was of lightly used "couple of cleaning marks" for $299 from USA - Paypal only refunded their maximum $175!!! (1st pic) Not deterred I purchased a second copy "perfect" £229 - am awaiting the outcome of this.... (2nd pic) I have purchased lenses before and never had a problem but it seems as if the bigger ebay gets the worse it gets.... Oh well rant over ![]()

Re: Online auctions - a word of caution
Sorry to hear about this Simon, allthough at least your getting the 2nd lens sorted.
I thought Paypal covered you up to £500, not $175???

I think it is very misleading as I was under the impression that PAYPAL covered your loss should they decide that you were right...... However that I suppose would eat into billions of profits..... |

Re: Online auctions - a word of caution
Well it certainly states that if an item is covered by PayPal's Buyer Protection then you enjoy free protection up to £500.
Is there something in the small print I am missing. |

Re: Online auctions - a word of caution
I know another member on here who sold an item to someone who paid by Paypal, then a week later after recieving the good the buyer had Paypal take money back out the sellers account !!!! There was nothing wrong with the goods & the buyer moved rented accom immediately. Paypal didn't want to know about helping the seller out
You've only got to look at all the blatant copied DVDs / siftware etc for sale on EBAY, that you know EBAY /PAYPAL don't give a monkeys about their customers. |
