LOL Mike, I do that for Andy, set it up for him, although he is getting good at setting for himself now.
I'm out at the Sanjan 10 tomorrow and forecast is good!

It just seems odd, that from going from most well focused to not alot, although it was bloody dark last night.
Can I just say that I came to DSLRs from manual focus 'things' like the A-1, T-90, and 2x F-1n cameras.
There is SUCH a massive difference in what to do with AF. I needed expert tuition...

I ALSO know it's true for the difference jumping from a canon 20d to 40d (which my missus did for a holiday).

So stick with it... And the lenses are probably ok

Re: Panic Time

That is a truly beautiful shot of a dog running. Can I ask what settings you used? Everything was fine from the 20D to the 40D and the lens was truly superb for a while, but the shots suddenly went slightly out. Lehmans said it was definately the camera and not the lens. I went out to the town centre last night for a parade of drag racing cars (not cars in skirts, but the racing type!) and it performed well, although it was dark, so again comparing grainy shots. Roll on this afternoon for a bright race to compare.

Re: Panic Time

Hey I fairly new to digital photography. I have always been a Canon film person but with the digital age and the stabilizations only in the lens what is the big appeal of Canon over say, Pentax with the stabilizer in the body. Or does the 1d MARKIII have it built in?

Re: Panic Time

Just processing shots from yesterdays race and

Will post some when I've finished, but so clear you can see nose hair, which is gross. Knew I had some good shots when reviewing on the lcd & I could tell the time on their watches. Did miss a couple of riders, but know what I did and it was me setting the camera and it doing as it was told. But I think my crisis of confidence is over. I've got a few more to sort out and then I'll put a couple on here for you.
I've still got alot to learn about setting the camera up, but now I know I can. I printed off a guide from Canon in the US that goes into a bit more detail than the manual and gives ideas for different light and speed. Can't remember the site though. DOH!

Yes I remember mate ......seems so hit a miss with the MK3 as to if you have the AF problems or not.

Sounds encouraging Sarah so I will look forward to seeing the shots
