Pentax Firmware

Hi everyone,
I did ask, in the Welcome forum, if anyone had any idea if the Pentax "Firmware" v. 1.30 is worth the switch while the camera works perfectly. Of course, I have not yet used all the available functions of the camera.

I seriously don't even know what this software is supposed to offer besides making the camera work!
Has anyone have/had any issue(s) with that?
Thanks!

Re: Pentax Firmware

So ... where am I now?
Oh, by the way, I am trying to start an album here and the max. file size is 200k!! Gosh, how do you ever compress a 3M file down to that level? Will it ever be visible?
Hope you can help!
Thanks again.

Re: Pentax Firmware

There is a very good tutorial on re-sizing written by Rob barron here.

Although this is using Photoshop, I think the steps can be done in any application.

Get back to us if you still have problems.

Re: Pentax Firmware

Again thank you for the reply, Dabhand.

It is a very good tutorial indeed, for those using Photoshop, which I don't have.

I have Windows Office Picture Manager, trying to "resize" the sample-2.98MB picture I took for trial.
It allows me to compress or resize it. However, it certainly doesn't allow me to retain a good rendering, either the pic becomes way too small or it becomes rather "pixeled".
In compression mode, it allows to compress at either 268Kb, 51.4Kb and 6.55Kb.
In resizing mode, it allows for the following:
1024-768px
800-600px
640-480px
448-336px
314-235px
160-160px
Then, still in the resizing mode, it also allows for "Custom width x Height" and "Percentage of original width x height"

Allowing for a 200Kb maximum file size to be uploaded in this site, what suggestion (s) would you have, keeping in mind that one still wants some sort of good rendering when the photo is visualized by site members.

Sorry to be a pest but eventually I'll get this right!

Sorry JP, I should have mentioned that I moved your post to the Cameras, Lenses and Accessories section as we're dealing with a camera issue.
