Photoframes at bargain prices

Jessops are doing some cracking deals on photoframes. These are now down to such a low price they could make a great offering if loaded with shots from say a portrait shoot ?

Jessops Digital 7" Photo Frame with Interchangeable Surrounds - Jessops 29.99

Jessops 3.5" LCD Photo Frame - Jessops 19.99

Alternatively they can be used as a marketing tool, for you to share your best shots

I don't understand the attraction of those things tbh. Given the current envirionmental fashions, these things seem particularly indulgent. Especially compared to the visual impact of a high quality print of your work.

Re: Photoframes at bargain prices

true, they are more of a gimick, best photos deserve a large print but for the many other photos taken it's a handy way of displaying them for yourself! nothing beats a framed print though!

Re: Photoframes at bargain prices

We picked up a Jessops 10.4" digiframe for my mother-in-law's birthday (28th), though we gave it to her early yesterday. She's always been a bit vocal about not having enough pictures of her grandchildren so I pre-loaded the frame with about 150 shots or so and she's chuffed to bits.

What I like about digiframes is their immediacy: conventional albums tend to get tucked away in dark, dusty corners and get dragged out only once in a blue moon.

Re: Photoframes at bargain prices

Being greedy, I got a 15" one

As I don't have much hanging space it enables me the flexibility to either display a single picture, or a slideshow. I can also have up to three cards/USB drive slots as well as the internal memory, so can divide the pictures into collections for display too.

Well chuffed with it so far.

Re: Photoframes at bargain prices

Jessop's own brand, reduced to 117. It has 1gig internal memory, an SD slot, a mini usb port and a CF slot. Not aware of any restrictions in size of memory cards/usb drives. It also has speakers so you can play music or sound effects with the pictures. You can switch between the four memories to show different collections.

It only accepts jpg/jepg files though, and at the moment I'm having a problem in that it displays some images, but not others

I've come acrross a similar issue with an SD card not displaying on a TV if the images have been manupulated, so I'm going to have a play around with file sizes to see if that cures the problem. Otherwise, sadly, it will have to go back. I say sadly because the images it does display are really good.

How about this one?

Re: Photoframes at bargain prices

I think I've cracked it. Although I think that file sizes are still relevent, also physical size seems to make a difference too.

The picture area of the frame is about A4 size, as near as makes no difference. One of the pictures that would not display was 22cm wide. Reducing it to 15cm did the trick. Also, 425 pixels width appears to be the limit. Portraits need to be 12 cm high. I thought the frame resized them, but apparently not.

I managed to get all of the pics that would not disply on the SD card to show by using a combination of the above things. Using 72dpi and sRGB colour space, keeping file sizes as low as possible. So far 128kb works, but I'll try to increase them

Off to try the CF card now - that ought to prove the theory.
