No I dont! but in the next few days all cameras are going up again that will be twice in 6 weeks a certain magazine has stated that Nikon are about to raise their prices again very soon (maybe this week) so my money stops in my pocket even longer now I know what I want but every time I enquire the goal posts have been moved again!

Re: Price of Sigma 300-800mm f/5.6 EX DG HSM

I'm renting one in June with a view buying one if it does what I want.

However, I'm not buying one at double the price. Sorry Sigma bad move and thumbs firmly down.

Ok the state of the uk economy is completly shot basically due to bad management. Yet i think alot of these companys are goin to shoot themselves in the foot, as its surley better to sell a item at a 10percent hike and make a small amount of profit than try and sell it for a 20 percent hike and not shift it

Re: Price of Sigma 300-800mm f/5.6 EX DG HSM

i'm lucky that i got a great deal on my camera and lenses as i work in a shop where items are bought and sold for cash. So not only do i get to buy the items really cheap compared to the new prices, but i get to test they are in full working order too, as i can take along my camera to test it. there are plenty of these stores in the uk and the economy being as bad as it is, many people are using them to get a better selling price on their items than selling in the paper or ebay. its quick easy and affordable, and all the dslr cameras i've seen in these stores have been very well cared for and have literally just been sold to these companies to get an immediate sale price on something that would be much more longwinded if selling online.

I emailed Sigma the following:

The reply from Sigma Sales:

Thanks for the reply. How is the £4000 price increase justified and it is now more than double the price. Do you know of any stockists that have this lens in stock prior to the price increase i.e. at the pre-increased price.

I haven't asked why some suppliers quote next day delivery?

Re: Price of Sigma 300-800mm f/5.6 EX DG HSM

I am not big on encouraging people to spend more money...but if you are looking at a big boy like this one you get what you pay for. A big boy like this is an investment in either your company (if you are a pro) or an investment in your life as a hobby. Bite the bullet and get the baby and start enjoying to help you deal with the economy blues. Also from what I see, if you want or need 800mm there is nothing on the market that is close to this price range than the Sigma really. The Nikon Nikkor lenses over 500 is way out of most people price range.

Damn, that price hike makes some of the spank me Canon increases look almost reasonable.

Cycle parts have also shot through the roof recently, especially Shimano which is also Japanese.
