In a quandary

Thanks to the nice man at my bank I am getting a PPI refund, this has left me in the state of "inertia through research"
I have decided on a new second body but I have been looking at two new lenses,
to whit, the Tamron SP 24 / 70 2.8 Di USD VR, which has great reviews and surpasses the Canon latest equivalent. The problem is with the SP 70/200 2.8 Di USD VR. It has won the EISA Product of the year award, and I have seen 4 reviews putting it equal to the Canon and Nikon versions, but, 1 review says they tested 2 copies and both had centering issues (minor) and they claimed the VC took 5 seconds to work. My question is has anyone got a 70/200 and what is it like? Any help would be apreciated.
Charles.

Re: In a quandary

The 24-70 does get good press so no issues there. With the 70-200, as it is quite new I doubt if anyone has one yet. Hiring one could be an option.

Re: In a quandary

Thanks Graham, Thats an idea, I have been on sveral American sites, as well as DXO, Pic Tips, E photozine, and all rate the 70/200 as equal to both the Canon and Nikon, indeed the centre lpm is only 3 less than the Canon and edge lpm is actualy 4 more. So if they have analysed the edge sharpness then the one site that said it had centering issues may have been mistaken. I think I will go for it once the payment has come through. So I will replace the "dead" Canon 24/70 2.8L and my well used 70/200 f4 IS.
I will do a review of them once I have used them for a while.
Charles.
