Raynox make good lenses but they are not lenses, as we know, for a DSLR. Raynox are extensions to bridge cameras and screw onto the camera's own lens. They can be used for macro and telephoto. HTH

Re: Raynox Dcr-250 52-67 Macro Lens

Upside to Raynox: image is magnified
Downside to Raynox: image is coming through more glass with resultant drop in quality, less light so more difficult to capture, won't focus to infinity

Upside to tubes (which literally are hollow tubes): image is magnified
Downside to tubes: image is coming through a smaller section of glass so there is a slight drop in quality, less light so more difficult to capture, won't focus to infinity

Air is better than glass

If you really want to get closer to the subject (i.e. magnify more) then tubes are the best solution (other than an expensive lens!). But there is a price to pay in terms of light and, to a degree, quality. I'd recommend leaving them for now, until you're comfortable with the 100mm - better to build on what you've got

As Mark says. Plus with tubes the DOF gets mighty thin.

Re: Raynox Dcr-250 52-67 Macro Lens

I just got two Raynox macro lenses, MSN-202 (4×) and MSN-505 (8×)... 202 works fine with Canon G5 even handhold, in a sunshine, but when I put the Raynox on my 300mm L IS USM, i sure needed a focusing rail. Fun lenses, quite great quality and cheap.
Go and macro your life!
I intend to use my Raynox this summer on Canon G5, crawling around, shooting everything that doesn't move too quick..
