Re: Raynox Lens

Which Raynox is it? My only experience is a Raynox 1.4 x converter I used on a Finepix S602 Pro. It retained AF.

Good question a few months ago I was trying to get one of these but couldn't find out wich is better so I just let it go.
Now that you started this thread I might get one after all.

Re: Raynox Lens

Hi ... I will try to explain the difference between the two lenses.
The DCR-150 has a magnification of 4.8 diopter which I think translates to a 125% increase in magnification
The DCR-250 has a magnification of 8.0 diopter which I think translates to a 200% increase in magnification.
The actual lens is only 49mm which sits in a spring loaded adapter which in turn will clip on to a 52mm to
67mm lens.
To use this lens you need to use the telephoto setting to avoid vignetting.
This in turn creates a narrow DOF and and manual focussing will produce the best results.
I have had one of these lenses for some time now and I get a lot of enjoyment from using it.
I am sorry that this is not too technical but hope it is of some help
Brian
Here is a pic. taken with the DCR-250

Re: Raynox Lens

I have 2 Raynox lenses for my Canon G5; MSN-202 (4) and MSN-505 (8), both sit in a spring loaded adapter too. Works for me! Very fun lenses! Nice to crawl with your camera after bugs and other little things...

You make manual focus or auto focus?

Re: Raynox Lens

Manual focus, the auto focus is too slow, it's easier to move the camera and watch the screen for the sharp moment. That's why I like the G5, with the vari-angle LCD screen to get near in any position.

Re: Raynox Lens

Jup! The Powershot A650 IS will be my next point-and-shoot samera, if my G5 breaks up. Sad, that Canon skipped the vari-angle LCD screen from G-series.
