Re: remember the post....

Kewl!

Funnily enough I was looking at lenses on the web a couple of days ago ... I need a long lens as well - kit lens being absolute cr@p - something around 300mm at f/2.8 would do nicely

Re: remember the post....

I remember that post, it cost me a fortune in the shape of a 40D, 17-85 IS, BG-E2N grip and a nifty fifty (Charlotte has a lot to answer for! )

I'd wait until that shoulder heals a bit before going out to shoot with your new arrival as it isn't exactly light!

Congrats anyway on getting a great lens, I love mine

Re: remember the post....

The 100-400IS is a great piece of kit. It would be one of my favourite lenses if my 50/1.4 wasn't such a jealous prima donna, insisting on being on my camera most of the time...

When you're feeling better, take it for a day out at the zoo. I had immense fun with mine at Bristol Zoo last summer just after I bought it - the zoom range is perfect for zoos IMHO.
It takes a while to get used to the push-pull and I sometimes find it irritating that the focus ring turns when you adjust the zoom lock ring... but these are niggles and quickly forgotten when you see the results!
