The main reason was for the high ISO capability which is much better than the D300. This will obviously be useful for weddings in dimly lit churches but I have also been recently appointed as the official photographer to the British Equestrian Federation and have a series of major indoor shows during the summer where the light is variable and that's putting it politely! Whilst the D300 coped well with the stallion show I did at Easter the arena was reasonably well lit compared to some.
Plus I wanted it! |

Grrrr...I'm not sure you should be allowed to buy a D300 and a D3. What's gonna happen to poor Mr 300 now?

Well , I say, if you are going to be an official photog, you should have the BEST !!!! and that is the truth !! so congrats, and good for you because life is too short to be wishing , instead of having ! I would have done the very same !! that is a most impressive shot at 6400 iso !! you must be kidding !! wow !! I am jealous, and might just jump off a bridge ! just joking !! but I am turning kind of green !!
