Thumbs down Sigma 10-20mm, soft left side

Hello,

Just today did my first group photos. Had to take an images of 15 people group. As I couldn't get far enough I had to use my Sigma 10-20mm istead of my 24-105mm. Sigma was on 20mm and I noticed now that all images of groups are very soft from centre to left hand side @ f10. People were in two rows and I asked back row to move as close as possible to the front row. So I should be able to get both rows sharp. And event front raw guys are soft on left. Right side is that bad just little soft and centre is good. Haven't tested this on brick wall yet, but looks like a trouble.
Bought this lens in autumn from FFordes used and still have warranty. Would this be a case of faulty lens? Read few articles that people saying 2 out 5 of these Sigmas have these problems. Don't have enough pounds to buy Canon wide angle L glass , but hope for best.

You'd really have to do a proper test on a brick wall or a ruler at exactly 90 to the lens axis. If there is a fault, Sigma should attend to it under warranty.

Sounds like a decentred lens, if you were square to the subject. You will get smearing with wide angles if you shoot at close focal lengths and oblique angles as it "Stretches" the perspective and amazingly becomes very sensitive to camera movement as it creates a high magnification factor in certain parts of the image.
