Sigma 300mm F2.8 Apo Autofocus

There's a Sigma 300 mm F2.8 for sale locally, secondhand but with 6 months guarantee.

It is in excellent condition and will be ideal for sport and wildlife work. Does anyone have any experience of this lens?

Re: Sigma 300mm F2.8 Apo Autofocus

I've used the 120-300 f2.8 zoom a few times and folk say it's optically as good as the prime, so the reverse should be true.

However focus tracking wasn't its strong suit so this would be the first thing I'd test. Results were excellent when everything went to plan so assuming your tests are OK, I'd go for it.

Of course the Canon f2.8's will be infinitely better but very likely 2 or 3 times the price .
