Sigma 50-500 but what model?

Hi

Im looking at the sigma 50-500 but there seem to be 2 models

EX APO DG HSM

EX APO RF HSM

which is the best and what are the differences? i have looked around various sites but cant seem to find anything that states the difference.

The Sigma web-site has this definition of DG:

These are large-aperture lenses with wide angles and short minimum focusing distances. With an abundance of peripheral illumination, they are ideal lenses for Digital SLR Cameras.

RF is rear focusing

Maybe this lens is both DG and RF

I think the DG is the better one, usally sigma DG lenses are better built and more durable. I think the RF one is an older variant.

Yeah, as Dabs suggests, the RF is the older version of the lens - newer ones are DG (basically it's lens coatings to reduce internal reflections)
