This one has been processed a fair bit, but at least shows what can be captured with that in mind. Shot at 300mm

I like this lens too!! If you know the limitations of it and work around them then you can produce some quality photos!!

what are the limitations? I have it on a 400D and the results are nothing like as sharp as your pics. (Yes, I used a tripod, cable release, etc)

What sort of settings (focal length, aperture, shutter speed) did you use?

Take a look at this detail review. You will realise the best optical quality is at 70mm. At 200mm, it is still reasonably sharp but anything beyond 200mm you have to expect softer image. Also at the tele end of the zoom range (especially at 300mm) you get worse corner sharpness at big aperture.

If you want to know more about this lens, you can do an experiment yourself. Mount your camera on a tripod and take a shot of a still object. Vary the lens setting at a time to take many shots of different settings (fixed focal length, vary aperture; fixed aperture, vary focal length). Then you will find out the sweet spot/range on this camera

I have just bought a 5D Mark II last week so I may put this lens on to test the optical quality of this lens once again :P
